How long does naltrexone stay in your system

Naltrexone, once metabolized, produces the metabolite 6-β-naltrexol. To understand how long it will take one’s body to eliminate naltrexone we must consider the half-lives of the parent drug and its metabolite. Naltrexone has an elimination half-life of 4 hours, while the half-life of 6-β-naltrexol is 13 hours.

Keeping the above facts in mind, it can be concluded that both naltrexone and its metabolite will be excreted from your system about 3 days after you last took it.

This timeframe may be shortened or lengthened depending on certain factors like:

  • Age of the individual
  • Body mass
  • Kidney and liver conditions
  • Diet
  • Hydration levels
